Taylor's Eagle

This has been a busy month for Taylor. I just wanted to share some of the pictures of his road toward Eagle.

Earlier in June we returned to Surplus City to present a gift of appreciation. The owner was glad to see us. What a great guy!

These are the fine men and woman that held the Board of Review for Taylor. They unanimously decided that Taylor should be recommended for Eagle. I knew they were good people;-) But the gentlemen in the right of the picture really thought Taylor needed a few more merit badges!

This is a picture that I took. It will look similar to the one they will hang in our local scout office. Funny thing about this picture. He has worn the same Lego tire as a neck tie since he was a cub. I just had to chuckle when he came out with it on the night of the Board of Review.

These would be the elated parents! But on a side note we really aren't old enough to have a son this old and this tall. What happened to may baby?

With all the emotions that I have felt over this event there are two things that I would like to share.

First, their once was a timid little boy that started the project last year. I remember vividly him describing his challenges and fears over his Eagle project. We were not sure that he would ever get past some of them. Then to watch him conquer his fears and push himself harder then we ever thought he would or even could. It has been a choice experience as a mother.

Second, after the Board of Review was complete we went and got a bite to eat. We took a minute to read the letters of recommendation that were included in his Eagle paperwork. I could hardly read them through all my tears. That got Michael started, poor Taylor was MORTIFIED. Here we were in a restaurant, he was in full uniform so people were already staring and now his mom and dad were blubbering. Poor guy. We had good reason to blubber. The letters were describing our son. All of them saw something different, but all of them saw great things in him. It was just one of those experience that make being his mom the best job in the whole world.

I have to end here and go find some more tissue the flood gates have opened again:-)
