Summer is here...It is really here! How do I know. I have zucchini coming out of my ears! I have been having fun with recipes. The bread is by far the most popular with the kids. How can I tell...I make 4 full size loaves at a time and I have nothing in the freezer to show for it! And you try crazy new recipes like zucchini cobbler. It really does taste just like apple pie http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Zucchini-Cobbler-2/Detail.aspx

I think I am all done with Strawberries for the season. I was able to put up quite a bit of freezer jam. I also froze about 10 gallon Ziplocs of whole strawberries. It is always good to make friends with the local strawberry stand. This year’s deal was that he would call me at the end of the day and I could buy what ever he had left over from the day for about half off.

My newest blackberries are still at it. Here is a sample of my new variety. They made a wonderful cobbler. I noticed today that all the other varieties that I have out there are just starting to ripen. I am hoping with all the heat that I will be starting in on blackberry jelly next week.

Next to the zucchini bread, raiding the blackberry patch is the kid’s next favorite snack. Can't say I blame them one bit.

My Aprium tree is all done. That tree just keeps surprising me. It is the first to blossom when it still seems too cold for anything to possibly live and yet it sets fruit like crazy. Not only did we eat our fill. I was able to put up 14 quarts. The tree is only 5 feet tall.

We also have had our 1st crop of green beans. YUMMY.

Good thing I have plenty to keep all my bees happy. But here is something I learned from my beekeeping friend. I asked him the other day how long I needed to feed my bee’s sugar water. (It sits in a jar at the front of the hive) He told me to just keep feeding them because all flowers produce pollen, but not all flowers produce nectar. I had no idea. I guess I still have lots to learn.

With the help of the boys the new fence is almost completely done. The things that are left are all Michael's jobs. He needs to build one last gate and then cut the tops of all the posts level and it will be a done deal. I keep meaning to take a picture of it. But I tend to blog at the strangest hours!
Star graduated from puppy school. She is a lot bigger then the puppy I brought home in February. She is a really good dog. I am presently surprised how fast she has learned. Don't get me wrong she is still a puppy even at her size. She managed to chew through all of the drip to my shade trees. Then when I decided to water manually with a sprinkler she chewed threw the watering hose. Good thing she is so cute and she had Andrew on her side!

Robynn won Michael undying love this week. Not that she did not already have it, but this sealed it. The other morning we were woken up at 7a.m by Miss Robynn. She had made us both breakfast in bed. Not just any breakfast in bed, it was pancakes made from scratch. The pancakes were bigger then the plate she served them on. To top it all off they were really good. That was all well and good, but when Michael got up from work the thing in noticed the most was that the kitchen was clean. (Nothing like when I cook pancakes) She had not only made breakfast but she cleaned up after herself. Michael could not stop singing her praises. It was so very cute. The cutest part of all was that we got a repeat perfomance the next morning!
Here are some pictures to enjoy
